Although Scheck Hillel Community School’s students were off campus today, learning continued for faculty and staff through a meaningful Professional Development Day. After a schoolwide breakfast and welcome session led by Dr. Ezra Levy, Dr. Monica Wagenberg, Vanessa Donaher and Rabbi Josh Spodek, the group moved into smaller interactive workshops led by fellow faculty and administrators. Topics included Making the Flipped Classroom Work, Using Data, Tech Tools, How to Talk so Kids Will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk, and so many more. Team-building exercises were designed to strengthen skills and foster new educational ideas.
Lunch included committee meetings. Since last school year, faculty and staff have been volunteering to develop, lead and serve committees to enrich various aspects of Scheck Hillel. Committees range from Social Media and Professional Growth Systems to Student Involvement and Staff Ambassadors. To join or inquire about any of the committees, please contact Dr. Helen Chaset, Scheck Hillel’s Director of Professional Development.
Thank you to Dr. Chaset, Craig Carpentieri and Robin Rimon for developing our spring semester’s meaningful Professional Development Day and to the 33 faculty and staff members who led sessions. Programs like today illustrate our tagline of ‘Learning for a Lifetime’ so beautifully.
