Last Monday, shouts and chants of ruach could be heard throughout Topeekeegee Yungee (T.Y.) Park. What was all the commotion about? Our Ben Lipson Upper School took over T.Y. Park for its annual Color War, and the students spent the day excitedly cheering on their peers and displaying their school pride.
Color War, a popular school tradition that was reignited last week, allows student body to participate in an exhilarating day filled with learning, athletics and school spirit. This year, Color War coincided perfectly with Purim and as part of a holiday celebration, students in Grades 9-12 dressed up in costumes, donned their class colors, and headed off to the Park to engage in some friendly competition between the classes.
The day was a huge success thanks to the incredible effort and leadership put forth by Student Body President Janna Berenson, a senior. Janna, along with Student Government executive members Vice President Alex Teichner (Grade 12), Treasurer Salomon Serfati (Grade 11), Secretary Ilana Woldenberg (Grade 10) and Student Life Coordinator Sarah Angress (Grade 11), planned an amazing day enjoyed by all who participated. And if you were to ask any senior about Color War 2014, they would undoubtedly tell you that their favorite part of the day was the moment the Class of ‘14 was crowned champion!
