Gone, But Not Forgotten

On Yom HaZikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day, we honor and remember over 23,169 soldiers and terror victims who have given their lives for the State of Israel.

This morning, Ben Lipson Upper School students and Samuel and Henrietta Scheck Middle School students joined together in the Ben Lipson Upper School Circle to lower the Israeli flag to half-mast. Following this somber moment, students attended a Yom HaZikaron assembly where they proudly sang Hatikvah and listened to stories of brave IDF soldiers that made heroic sacrifices to defend and preserve our Jewish state.

The B’not Sherut Leumi at Scheck Hillel organized additional Yom HaZikaron learning opportunities for our students. Throughout the day, students listened and engaged as the B’not Sherut Leumi discussed the history of Israel’s wars and talked about famous fallen Israeli soldiers. Through important learning experiences like these, we will never forget the men and women who have defended, and continue to defend, the State of Israel.
