Yom HaZikaron: Today We Remember

Today, on Yom HaZikaron, Scheck Hillel Community School remembers those who have perished protecting the State of Israel. The Juda and Maria Diener Lower School, Samuel and Henrietta Scheck Middle School and Ben Lipson Upper School came together for this important day. After the Israeli flag was lowered to half-mast and students participated in a moment of silence to honor the fallen soldiers this morning, Grades 6-12 shared assemblies where the band performed, moments were recalled by former soldiers, young women and men were remembered, and candles were lit in memory of fallen soldiers. All recited Kaddish as a school community. Today’s somber day rolls into tomorrow’s celebratory Yom HaAtzmaut. Parents of all Scheck Hillel students are encouraged to join in the Israel65 fun.
