Hundreds of community friends joined together this week to celebrate the graduation of the Ben Lipson Upper School Class of 2014. Scheck Hillel Community School’s Class of 2014 is filled with bright and talented students, including a National Hispanic Merit Scholar, an Independent Schools of South Florida Star Student Award winner, four Silver Knight Nominees and many other students heading off to amazing programs and universities across the country. Schools include the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, University of Florida, Bar-Ilan University and so many more. A record number of students - almost 25% of the class - are off to Israel to attend gap year programs. And, bringing the Scheck Hillel mission to life ever so brightly, Natalie Kaduri and Yosef Mendelson are proudly enlisted to serve in the Israel Defense Forces.

Commencement festivities began May 19 at the Senior Dinner: an opportunity for the class to come together one more time and celebrate their accomplishments with one another. Proud family members and friends then looked on as the students received awards and honor society tassels during the Senior Awards Ceremony.

On May 20, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts was packed with community members, faculty, staff, friends and families to celebrate the commencement of the Class of 2014. The graduates received a personalized Yeverechicha blessing from Incoming Head of School Dr. Rabbi Ezra Levy, and took in remarks from David Wolf, an Chair of the Board of Governors and a Scheck Hillel parent and alumnus, Mrs. Yehudis Glasserman, Capstone Teacher, who was chosen by the class to represent faculty, and Mrs. Vanessa Donaher, Head of Upper School. Once they received their diplomas, the newest generation of alumni proudly moved their tassels from right to left and tossed their graduation caps in the air!

Scheck Hillel is proud to give a mazal tov to the members of the Class of 2014 and their families. May you always go from strength to strength!
