Urging students to use the power of social media to get out the truth about Israel, Ambassador Daniel “Danny” Ayalon addressed the Ben Lipson Upper School of Scheck Hillel Community School this morning, as part of his visit to South Florida on behalf of WIZO (Women’s International Zionist Organization). Ambassador Ayalon briefed Grade 9-12 students and faculty on the escalating events taking place in Israel and on available tools to help counter the myths and anti-Israel bias found in the mainstream press. “You have the ability to use the Internet and reach millions in an unfiltered fashion,” he told the students. Ayalon referred them to thetruthaboutisrael.org.il
As Ayalon was speaking, he received a phone call from Jerusalem, updating him on a thwarted attack in a mall near Tel Aviv, a real-time reminder for our students of Israel’s vulnerability and of its resolve to defend the Jewish homeland from any and all threats.
Ambassador Ayalon launched The Truth About Israel project based on 25 years of experience at the forefront of Israel public diplomacy and foreign affairs as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Member of Parliament, Ambassador to the United States, and Foreign Policy Advisor to three prime ministers.
We are grateful to WIZO, and to Mrs. Ruthy Benoliel and Mrs. Evelyn Faigenblat in particular, for making Ambassador Ayalon’s visit possible.
