New World Symphony rehearsal observations offer the unique opportunity to view the inner workings of a symphony orchestra. Today, Scheck Hillel’s orchestra and band students observed an otherwise closed rehearsal for internationally renowned conductors and soloists preparing for upcoming concerto concerts. The New World Fellows spent time with our Scheck Hillel musicians to talk about the works they were rehearsing as well as their orchestral instruments, all of which our students study and play through our Jordan Alexander Ressler Arts Program. Additionally, two weeks ago, our entire Grade 5 attended a New World education concert: a performance of excerpts of various works and composers. Such experiential education increases students’ knowledge and further develops skills while reinforcing values, cultivating talent and inspiring passion.
