Opponent: Calvary Christian, Win 37 -34

The Scheck Hillel Varsity girls basketball team were back in action Monday night on home court taking on Calvary Christian. From the moment Calvary Christian stepped on the court they had a definite size advantage, featuring a center who towered over 6'-2".
Eighth-grader Vanessa Gonik took on the duties of facing up with her one-on-one and limited her to only 11 points. With her presence and great play from their shooting guard they found themselves up 28 - 20 at the end of the third quarter. This deficit did not slow or stop our lady hurricanes. We took the lead 34 - 32 with less than a minute left. Calvary Christian, on their next possession came down the court and scored to tie it all up 34- 34 with less than 30 seconds.
The hurricanes were just warming up and saved their best action for last. With less than six seconds left, Sami Lieberman came off the screen, took the open three-pointer and swished it!
37 - 34 was the final score.
In the victory Sami Lieberman scored 21 points as well as Dani Scheck netting 11. Great all-around defensive efforts were put in by Michal Paniry, Maxine Dunn, Aliza Lichy and Shoshi Wolf. The hurricanes are now overall 4 - 2 on the season.
