The weather in Washington, DC, may be chilly and wet, but that hasn’t put a damper on the amazing journey our Grade 8 students have embarked on thus far in the nation’s Capital.

After arriving in DC yesterday, the students headed straight for the Capitol Building, where much to everyone’s delight, Senator Marco Rubio’s office surprised the group with an exclusive visit to the Senate Chambers. Students looked on as Senators debated legislation right before their very eyes. Following their exciting tour of the Capitol, our students visited several memorials, including Vietnam War, Korean War, Jefferson, Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today, the group was up bright and early, as they have a jam-packed itinerary ahead of them. They began their morning at the Bureau of Printing and Engraving, and then will head to the United State Holocaust Museum.

Tomorrow, before heading home to sunny Florida, the students will visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as visit some more of DC’s amazing museums.
